EarthQuaker Devices announced on August 2, 2022, a collaboration with Brain Dead, the Los Angeles creative studio, on a special, limited colorway of the Brain Dead Ghost Echo Vintage Voiced Reverb, which the maker said was available at the time of the announcement¹.

The pedal keeps the Ghost Echo circuit and gains new graphics. Guitar.com reported the design shows mushrooms, geometric shapes, eyes, ears and the Brain Dead logo in black and yellow over a green finish, a departure from the original's black and white design². Guitar World reported the Brain Dead logo sits in a central position in a green, yellow and black colorway, and that a similarly psychedelic packaging box accompanies the pedal³. EarthQuaker said Brain Dead specially designed colorful packaging for the pedal¹.

Guitar World reported the pedal operates exactly the same as the original, with a sole bypass footswitch and knobs for Attack, Depth and Dwell: Attack sets pre-delay, which spans 30ms to 150ms, Dwell sets the length and thickness of decay, and Depth sets the intensity of the reverb³. Guitar.com described the Ghost Echo as an "analogue/digital" spring reverb emulation pedal with 30 to 150ms of pre-delay and the capacity for self-oscillation at high settings².

EarthQuaker called the Brain Dead Ghost Echo a limited production run and directed buyers to its dealers¹. No price was given in the announcement. Guitar World reported it was the latest in a series of limited edition EarthQuaker pedals that year, following a special Plumes unit made with Save The Music and the debut of the Special Cranker overdrive³.
