Electronic Audio Experiments announced the Sending V2, a digitally controlled analog delay, in July 2023. MusicRadar reported that it goes on sale at noon EST on Friday 18 July, while Delicious Audio reported it should be shipping towards the end of July 202312.
The pedal is based, like the original Sending released in 2018, on a pair of MN3005 reissue bucket brigade devices, with a 32-bit, 100MHz processor providing preset and MIDI control over every parameter21. EAE says it can delay a sound up to a full second without clock noise and can be pushed to longer times for what the maker calls "compelling sonic degradation"3. Delicious Audio reported that the full second of delay can be extended to 2 seconds, increasingly aliased, via tap tempo or MIDI2.
The controls are seven knobs with doubled functions, accessed through a Shift press2. MusicRadar gives the Time knob a range of 25ms to a second, while Delicious Audio lists delay time from under 5ms to 1 second12. The secondary functions include tempo divisions, a 6dB volume trim, LFO rate, depth and waveform, and a Chaos mode that randomizes the LFO21. The dual-mode filter cuts lows or highs in the delay line2. There are 3 presets on the front panel and up to 32 via MIDI, an insert loop, assignable expression control, and firmware updates through the MIDI jack23. The Tap footswitch sets delay time and, held down, ramps feedback; the Engage footswitch toggles between trails and standard bypass when held1.
The jacks are top-mounted: two 1/4 inch connections, a 1/4 inch EXP/CV input, a MIDI input and a TRS loop1. The pedal takes 9V DC and draws 380mA, and EAE recommends a power supply rated 400mA or more1. The US list price is $64913.
"Sending is an analog delay that melds the archaic voice of bucket brigade devices with a fully modern toolbox of digital control."
