EarthQuaker Devices announced on July 24, 2023 that Mission Engineering has created an EarthQuaker Devices expression pedal, the EQD-1. EarthQuaker said it worked closely with Mission Engineering on the pedal, which was built to the specs of its president and pedal designer, Jamie Stillman1.
The EQD-1 has selectable outputs. According to EarthQuaker, the 25K output suits the Sunn O))) Life Pedal, Avalanche Run and Rainbow Machine, and can also be used with many other brands of effects pedals, MIDI controllers and keyboards. The 100K output is intended for effects such as the Hummingbird that work best with a higher resistance expression pedal. A +5V CV output is aimed at the Afterneath Eurorack Module and other products that support CV, including keyboards, synthesizers and Eurorack modules1.
| Output | Maker's stated use |
|---|---|
| 25K | Sunn O))) Life Pedal, Avalanche Run, Rainbow Machine; many other brands of pedals, MIDI controllers and keyboards |
| 100K | Effects such as the Hummingbird that work best with a higher resistance expression pedal |
| +5V CV | Afterneath Eurorack Module; other CV-capable keyboards, synthesizers and Eurorack modules |
The EQD-1 is priced at $175.00 USD and is available now from select Mission Engineering dealers1.
"The EQD-1 has selectable outputs to work with all EarthQuaker Devices, and many non-EarthQuaker pedals too."
The EQD-1 joins the wider field of expression pedals used to control pedal parameters by foot.
