Wren and Cuff released the Garbage Face Jr, a signature fuzz pedal made in collaboration with J Mascis, Delicious Audio reported on May 24, 20221. The pedal is a stripped-down version of the distortion side of the Garbage Face, the dual-gain signature pedal Wren and Cuff released in 20201.
The Garbage Face Jr has three controls, for Volume, Gain and Tone, in what the report describes as a small, pedalboard-friendly enclosure1. It is true hard-wire bypass and carries a lifetime warranty1. The circuit recreates the early 1970s "Ram's Head" Big Muff that Mascis bought on tour in 1987, according to the builder's notes quoted in the report1. Wren and Cuff owner Matthew Holl approached Mascis about a signature pedal based on that unit, and the two worked together on the final version, the notes say1.
The original Garbage Face combined Mascis' muff circuit with a Rangemaster-style treble boost1. The report says requests followed its release for a three-knob version of the distortion side alone, and that the Jr answers them1. The artwork is described as capturing Mascis' love of bold colors and playful imagery1.
"Matthew and J worked together to ensure that the final unit was a dead on replica of his treasured pedal."
The report gives no price or on-sale date for the Garbage Face Jr1.
