The Dynaflanger Model 213 is a digital flanger pedal from Alexander Pedals, announced in October 2023 as the fourth pedal in the company's Leap Series1. It runs ten separate flanger engines on an FXCore DSP chip, with 32 presets, stereo output, tap tempo and MIDI control21. Delicious Audio described it as "a flanger encyclopedia in a box"3.
Alexander Pedals says the pedal combines the tones the company loved from its original F.13 flanger into the Dynaflanger, adding stereo output, presets, tap tempo and a set of new operating modes23. It was available for preorder at announcement, shipping in December 20233.
Ten flanger modes
The Dynaflanger's ten engines are AUTO, DYNA, DUAL AUTO, DUAL DYNA, SPIRAL, STEP, ECHO FLANGER, FLERB, FILTER SAMPLE HOLD and TURBO, each with its own set of tweakable parameters23. Delicious Audio noted that a good flanger "can cover all kinds of territory, from metallic resonance to jet-place whoosh, and anywhere in between," and the Dynaflanger's mode list spans that range3.
Several modes have documented detail from Guitar Pedal X's review1:
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| AUTO | Deluxe automatic flanger with a wide-ranging sweep, manual delay time control for chorus and doubling effects, and a second delay line for through-zero flanging |
| DYNA | Volume-envelope controlled flanger with a selectable envelope filter (highs, lows or full range) and independent soft and loud sweep controls |
| DUAL DYNA | Twin flangers driven by the dynamic envelope sensor, one sweeping up and one down, usable in mono or stereo |
| STEP | Rhythmic step-sequenced flanger with eight selectable patterns; Pattern 8 can be edited via MIDI commands and saved in presets |
| ECHO FLANGER | Up to 800ms of echo wrapped into a flanger, with the flange placeable before or after the echo |
Guitar Pedal X summed up the STEP mode's character as sounding "like a transforming robot toy TV show"1.
The controls
The user interface is four variable-function knobs and a small LED screen3. The knobs change jobs depending on the active mode, and the screen shows what each one is doing. A CTL footswitch handles tap tempo and ramp triggering21.
The pedal also includes an automatic ramping function, which sweeps parameters for you so you get expression-pedal-style control without plugging one in2. Presets are stored as 32 user slots, arranged either as 4 banks of 8 or two banks of 16, all accessible on the pedal without external controls21.
Power and connections
The Dynaflanger runs on DC 9V only and draws 250mA or greater. It requires an isolated DC power supply2, so it cannot share a daisy-chain output with other pedals, and there is no battery option.
Connections are a mono audio input, stereo output, a control jack for expression or MIDI, and a USB connection for updates3. The MultiJack accepts an expression pedal, a foot switch or MIDI input, and the USB port handles both firmware updates and USB MIDI2. Delicious Audio highlighted the pedal's "open-ended acceptance of MIDI and expression input," which allows external control and DAW automation3. Input impedance is 1M ohms and output impedance is 560 ohms1.
History: from the F.13 to the Leap Series
Alexander Pedals' flanger line goes back to the original F.13, which Premier Guitar described as "a three-mode flanger that does everything a standard flanger can," including a Dynamic mode4. The company called the F.13 and F.13N "benchmarks for flanging excellence"3.
The F.13 Neo Series Flanger gave the F.13 Flanger what the maker called "the full Neo treatment," adding presets, expression control and ramp morph to the platform5.
The Dynaflanger Model 213 arrived in October 2023 as the fourth edition in the Leap Series, following the Space Force, Rewind and Luminous phase-shifter1. The Leap platform's FXCore DSP has more than 8 times the processing power of the previous Neo Series pedals2. Guitar Pedal X compared the new pedal's flanger algorithms directly against the previous F.13 and F.13N editions1.
What reviewers said
Guitar Pedal X reviewed the Dynaflanger in November 2023 and called it:
"A really elegant and easily controllable unit - packed with features."
The same review noted its usability and feature set as the pedal's strengths, alongside its $229.99 MAP price1.

Questions
Is the Dynaflanger true bypass?
No. It uses buffered bypass, with selectable trails on all modes that include delay or reverb2.
How many presets does it have?
32 user presets, arranged in 4 banks of 8 or two banks of 16, all accessible on the pedal without external controls21.
Does it have MIDI?
Yes. The MultiJack accepts expression pedal, foot switch or MIDI input, and the USB port supports firmware updates and USB MIDI2.
Is it stereo?
It has a mono input and stereo output3, and the DUAL DYNA mode is built for mono or stereo use1.
How many presets does the Dynaflanger have?
It holds 32 user presets, arranged either as 4 banks of 8 or as two banks of 16. All of them are accessible on the pedal itself without external controls, so you can recall sounds mid-gig without hooking up anything extra.
Does the Dynaflanger have MIDI?
Yes. The MultiJack on the pedal accepts an expression pedal, a foot switch, or MIDI input, and the USB port handles firmware updates and USB MIDI. Delicious Audio noted that this open-ended acceptance of MIDI and expression input allows external control and DAW automation.
Is the Dynaflanger stereo?
It has a mono audio input and a stereo output. Some modes are built with stereo in mind: the Dual Dyna engine runs two flangers, one sweeping up and one down, and can be used mono into one amp or in stereo across two.
