The Coffee Shop Pedals Cortado is a multi-mode, stereo reverb pedal from Saskatchewan, in the middle of Canada. It packs four reverb programs into a compact case, covering everything from short, minimal reverb to long, ambient soundscapes, and it adds a MIDI-based preset system with a spillover option for keeping trails alive between changes.1
The four modes
The Cortado offers four reverb programs, selected on the pedal:
| Mode | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Hall | Room and hall-style ambience, from short to long |
| Spring | Spring reverb character |
| Tremoloverb | Reverb with a tremolo-style movement |
| Octave | Reverb with an octave shift |
Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio described them as "four vast and versatile reverb programs that can go from short and minimal reverb, to long and ambient soundscapes."1 Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson, listing the pedal among the year's time-based releases, called it a "Really neat 4-mode Stereo Reverb with 3 Presets onboard."2
Three knobs, Mix, Decay and Tone, are shared across all four modes, so the control layout stays the same wherever you land.1
Presets, MIDI and spillover
The Preset button switches between three built-in patches stored on the pedal. Beyond those, a MIDI-based preset system with a MIDI input allows the storage of many more, which matters if you run the Cortado with a MIDI controller or switcher on a larger board.1
The pedal also includes a trails on/off option and a spillover effect. Spillover lets the trail of the reverb keep ringing without getting cut when you change to a different reverb program, change preset, or turn the pedal off, so transitions between sounds stay smooth rather than abrupt.1
A compact stereo reverb from a small builder
Delicious Audio highlighted how much the Cortado fits into its enclosure: "Already having a full stereo reverb in a compact case is not an easy feat."1 De Gregorio's broader point was about what small builders can now do, writing that "small builders with very small teams (in many cases a team of one) can create quality digital stompboxes with features and sounds rivaling major manufacturers' releases."1
For a player comparing compact reverbs, the Cortado's combination of full stereo operation, four distinct programs, three onboard presets expandable through MIDI, and spillover places it among the more feature-dense entries in the reverb pedal field for its size.12

Questions
What modes does the Coffee Shop Pedals Cortado have?
The Cortado has four reverb modes: Hall, Spring, Tremoloverb and Octave. Delicious Audio describes the four programs as vast and versatile, able to go from short and minimal reverb to long and ambient soundscapes. Mix, Decay and Tone knobs are shared across all four modes.
Does the Cortado Reverb have MIDI?
Yes. The Cortado has a MIDI-based preset system with a MIDI input. The onboard Preset button switches between three built-in patches, while MIDI compatibility allows the storage of many more presets beyond the three stored on the pedal itself.
Is the Cortado a stereo reverb?
Yes. The Cortado is a full stereo reverb pedal, and it does so in a compact case. Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio noted that having a full stereo reverb in a compact case is not an easy feat, which is part of what makes the pedal notable among small-builder releases.
What is spillover on the Cortado?
Spillover lets the trail of the reverb keep ringing without being cut off when you change to a different reverb program, change preset, or turn the pedal off. The Cortado includes a trails on/off option alongside this spillover behavior.
How many presets does the Cortado store?
The Cortado stores three presets onboard, switched with the Preset button. Its MIDI-based preset system allows the storage of many more beyond those three built-in patches.
