For a player, it does what a Whammy does: it shifts and bends pitch under an expression pedal, and it adds a brand-new Octave Blend and a reimagined Detune alongside the familiar Whammy, Harmony and Octaver effects1. Its standout feature is Hypersonic mode, which pitch shifts three full octaves2.

Controls and how it works

The pedal is controlled with a small set of controls, each doing one job. Bass Magazine's announcement lays them out plainly2:

ControlWhat it does
Selector KnobChooses between Whammy, Octaver, Harmony, or Detune effects
Expression PedalControls the amount of pitch bending of the selected effect
Classic/Chords SwitchToggles between Classic Whammy and Modern Whammy DT Chord settings
FootswitchEnables the effect

The hardware also features an instrument input and output1, and the pedal ships with an included power supply2.

The four effect types

The Selector Knob splits the pedal into four effects, each aimed at a different job12:

  • Whammy: 10 settings optimized for guitar and bass, letting the player shift and smoothly bend pitch. The settings include Divebomb, 2nd down to 5th down, and 2nd up to 5th up4.
  • Octaver: Bass Magazine calls it "perfect for playing chords and adding octaves both above or below the original signal"2. The pedal also adds a brand-new Octave Blend1.
  • Harmony: Six options mix the dry signal with a pitch-shifted signal to create a chordal harmony that can be shifted and blended into a second chordal harmony12.
  • Detune: Allows "that perfect amount of Detune mixed with its dry signal"2, a reimagined version of the effect2.

Hypersonic mode

Hypersonic mode is the feature that separates this pedal from the standard Whammy V. Bass Magazine describes it as "the ability to pitch shift 3 full octaves"2. In DigiTech's NAMM demo, shown by Premier Guitar, it sends the sound three octaves above the input signal, with the presenter counting off the octaves as the expression pedal travels3.

Guitar and bass

The pedal is optimized for use with both electric guitars and basses3. The Whammy effect's 10 settings are optimized for guitar and bass, allowing the player to shift and smoothly bend pitch on either instrument12. That dual focus fits the signature artist: MonoNeon is a bassist, and the pedal was developed with him1.

Finish and what is in the box

The enclosure is finished in a Neon Orange and Neon Yellow paint job in MonoNeon's signature colors, and DigiTech says it "glows under black lights on stage"41. DigiTech also includes neon colored gaffer tapes and a mini-Sharpie in the box4.

The NAMM 2025 demo

Premier Guitar's demo from the DigiTech booth at NAMM 2025 presented the pedal as the brand new MonoNeon signature Whammy pedal, and walked through its controls, including the Expression Pedal, which controls the amount of pitch bending of the selected effect, and the Selector Knob for choosing between Whammy, Octaver, Harmony, or Detune effects1.

Where it sits in the Whammy line

The pedal is part of a long line of octave and pitch pedals. It draws directly on the Whammy V circuit1, and its Classic/Chords Switch toggles between Classic Whammy and Modern Whammy DT Chord settings, the chord-shifting approach associated with the DigiTech Whammy DT2. DigiTech showed it at NAMM 2025 alongside the HammerOn, a separate instantaneous pitch shifter3. Players after a smaller format can compare it with the DigiTech Whammy Ricochet or the Mini Whammy Ricochet, though those omit the MIDI control this pedal carries1.
