The GUP Tech Garbage Drive is a boost pedal from the Canadian maker GUP Tech, described by the company as "another boost option to put in front of your high gain amp." It is built to deliver a large volume lift with a good amount of added dirt from its Trash knob, so it can push an amp into saturation as well as simply raise the signal level1.
Status and the FRAG Boost
The Garbage Drive is no longer in production. GUP Tech states plainly on the product page: "This pedal is part of our Cemetery of old circuits. This won't be built anymore."1
GUP Tech points players to the FRAG Boost as an updated version of the Garbage Drive circuit1.
For players who want the same idea in a current pedal, the maker's own successor is the FRAG Boost, which the company describes as "an updated version of the Garbage." GUP Tech's wider range also includes other boost-adjacent circuits such as the GUP Tech GrindR and the GUP Tech Donut Douche Edition1.
Controls and power
The pedal keeps its control set simple. The Trash knob is the named control, and the maker describes it as delivering "a lot of volume and also quite a lot of dirt," meaning the pedal shapes both level and grit rather than acting as a clean lift1.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Power voltage | 9V DC, center negative1 |
| Current draw | 11mA1 |
| Control | Trash knob, adds dirt1 |
| Colors | Yellow or Lawn green1 |
At 11mA the pedal sits comfortably within what a standard 9V DC center negative supply handles, and the maker's stated figures give no reason to expect it to need an isolated supply on its own1.
