The Hangman fx Lord GermFet is a dual overdrive pedal from Hangman fx that puts two different gain circuits in one enclosure: a left channel built around three NOS Soviet MΠ21A germanium transistors, and a right channel that is a JFET Fetzer Valve circuit described as a tube emulation design. Each channel has its own footswitch, and the two can be run separately or stacked, reaching from articulate fuzzy-drive up to proto-fuzz tones when combined1.
Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson, who reviewed the pedal in May 2025, described the pairing this way:
"The Lord GermFet combines a three-NOS-Soviet-MΠ21A Germanium channel with a JFET Fetzer Tube Emulation channel1."
Controls
Each channel carries its own set of knobs and a footswitch, plus a shared order switch4.
| Channel | Controls |
|---|---|
| Germanium side | Output, Gain, Tone (Hi-Cut), Voicing (Low / High / Vintage), Germanium Drive footswitch |
| JFET side (Fetzer Valve+) | Output, Gain, Presence (Twangy / Thick & Bold), footswitch |
| Shared | Order switch: Germanium <> JFET |
The germanium channel's three-position voicing switch changes the character of the gain. Karlsson reported that Low delivers the best low-end, High is slightly denser and more intense with less low-end, and Vintage is a more subtle, lower-gain setting; he named the Low and High modes as his favorites1.
How the two channels work together
Both channels sit mostly within medium-gain territory on their own, with more gain available when they are stacked, though Karlsson noted the combined sound never reaches Tone Bender levels of sear and gain1. He characterized the shared character of the two circuits as follows:
"Both offer medium gain, harmonic textures, guitar-volume cleanup and touch-sensitive dynamics"
The Order switch changes which channel comes first in the signal path, Germanium or JFET, so stacked tones can be arranged either way4. On the right side of the enclosure there is also an EXT. Remote Switch Port for a remote switch box; an internal dip-switch sets whether the port targets the germanium or the JFET footswitch14.
What reviewers said
Karlsson's May 2025 review judged the Lord GermFet one of the most harmonically textured compact dual overdrives of its kind, and in his December 2025 roundup of the year's boost and overdrive pedals he wrote:
"A great Dual Drive - which mixes up Germanium and JFET flavours - the sound fantastic individually, and even better combine"3
In the same roundup he placed it below the Hangman fx DAGG'R in terms of innovation overall, while still calling it one of the best of its ilk3. He also noted the pedal's appearance: black and white graphic artwork with gold accents on the knobs, washers and ports, and a gold serial number plate on the front edge1.
Availability and price
The Lord GermFet was listed at $240 as of December 20253. North American customers can buy directly from the Hangman fx website, while overseas customers need to contact Paul, the maker, directly via his Instagram page1. The pedal arrived alongside the Atomic World Ender Fuzz-Chopper/Drone and the Luma Express light-sensing Expression and Switch Box micro pedals, and the wider Hangman fx range also includes the DAGG'R and the Tyrannosaur MegaDriver1.

Questions
Can you change the channel order on the Lord GermFet?
Yes. A dedicated Order switch lets you run the signal through the germanium channel first or the JFET channel first, labelled Germanium <> JFET. Each channel also has its own footswitch, so you can use them separately or stack them, and the order of the stacked tones can be flipped to taste.
What does the EXT remote port on the Lord GermFet do?
The EXT. Remote Switch Port sits on the right side of the pedal and accepts a remote switch box. An internal dip-switch sets which footswitch the port targets, so a remote switch can engage either the germanium channel or the JFET channel from outside the pedal.
What transistors are in the Hangman fx Lord GermFet?
The left channel uses three NOS Soviet MΠ21A germanium transistors. The right channel is a JFET-based Fetzer Valve circuit, which Guitar Pedal X describes as a tube emulation style design rather than a germanium circuit.
How do you buy a Hangman fx pedal outside North America?
Customers in North America can buy directly from the Hangman fx website. Overseas customers need to contact Paul, the maker, directly through his Instagram page to arrange a purchase.
