The JAM Pedals "Bulbotron" Double Dreamer is a dual overdrive pedal that houses two of the Greek maker's drive circuits in one enclosure: a Tubedreamer and a Lucydreamer. Each side has its own footswitch and controls, and a third HIGH GAIN footswitch in the middle can be routed to either circuit or both. JAM describes the Tubedreamer side as a warm, rich 808-style overdrive built around the JRC4558D chip and three-diode asymmetrical clipping, with a tuned midrange that cuts through while staying touch-sensitive. The Lucydreamer side is described as a dry/wet overdrive with less of a mid hump, extended low end and a wide gain range.1
The two circuits
The Tubedreamer side carries the classic Tube Screamer-style formula JAM builds its single Tubedreamer pedals around: the JRC4558D chip and three-diode asymmetrical clipping. The maker says its tuned midrange cuts through while remaining touch-sensitive.1
The Lucydreamer side works differently. It is a dry/wet overdrive, meaning the Mix control blends the clean and driven signals rather than clipping the whole signal. JAM says this preserves attack and chord definition, with less of a mid hump and extended low end compared with a conventional overdrive.1
| Side | Controls | Character as described by JAM |
|---|---|---|
| Tubedreamer | Level, Tone, Gain | Warm, rich 808-style overdrive, tuned midrange, touch-sensitive1 |
| Lucydreamer | Level, Tone, Gain, clean/drive Mix | Dry/wet overdrive, less mid hump, extended low end, wide gain range1 |
Controls and footswitches
The pedal has three footswitches: Lucydreamer, HIGH GAIN and Tubedreamer. The two outer switches engage each circuit on its own. The middle HIGH GAIN footswitch is routed by a three-way toggle to the Tubedreamer, the Lucydreamer or both, and separate internal trimmers set the high-gain output level for each circuit.1
The HIGH GAIN footswitch does not have a fixed destination. The three-way toggle decides whether it engages the Tubedreamer, the Lucydreamer or both, and the internal trimmers let you set the output level of that boost separately for each circuit.1
Default and Independent Y modes
Out of the box, the Double Dreamer runs in series: input, then the Lucydreamer, then the Tubedreamer, then the output.1
A three-way toggle also switches the pedal into Independent Y mode. In this mode the IN and OUT jacks become breakout points for the two circuits, which JAM says allows switcher control, separate signal-chain placement or parallel stereo use. Two TRS-to-dual-TS insert cables are required to make the connections.1

Custom artwork versions
JAM offers the Double Dreamer in a range of custom artwork versions, and the maker states plainly that they are the same sound with different artwork. The versions listed are "Glisten", "Mosquito", "Sticky Icky", "Tree Of Life", "Achenbach", "Pickle Freak" (sold out) and the "Relic" Double Dreamer.1
Every custom artwork pedal is a one-of-a-kind hand-painted piece, so the pedal received differs in detail from the photos shown.1
