The "Sticky Icky" Double Dreamer is a dual overdrive pedal from JAM Pedals that houses two of the company's drive circuits in a single enclosure: the Tubedreamer, an 808-style overdrive, and the Lucydreamer, a dry/wet overdrive with a clean/drive blend. Three footswitches cover the Lucydreamer, a high-gain stage and the Tubedreamer, and a mode called Independent Y lets you split the two circuits out to separate points in your signal chain.1
The pedal draws 110 mA at 9V DC, center-negative. Check that your power supply output and any daisy-chain connection can supply that current.
The two circuits
The Tubedreamer side is, in JAM's description, "a warm, rich 808-style overdrive built around the JRC4558D chip and three-diode asymmetrical clipping. Its tuned midrange cuts through while remaining touch-sensitive."1 Players familiar with Tube Screamer-style drives will recognize the layout: Level, Tone and Gain.1 JAM also builds standalone TubeDreamer pedals, including artwork editions such as the "Blood Spatter" Tubedreamer and "Monterey" Tubedreamer.
The Lucydreamer side works differently. JAM describes it as "a dry/wet overdrive with less of a mid hump, extended low end and a wide gain range. The Mix control blends clean and driven signals to preserve attack and chord definition."1 It carries Level, Tone, Gain and a clean/drive Mix control, one knob more than the Tubedreamer.1 JAM sells it on its own too, in editions like the "Achenbach" Lucydreamer and "Still" Lucydreamer.
Controls and footswitches
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tubedreamer: Level, Tone, Gain | Output level, tone and drive amount for the Tubedreamer circuit1 |
| Lucydreamer: Level, Tone, Gain, Mix | Output level, tone and drive amount, plus a clean/drive blend1 |
| HIGH GAIN footswitch | Engages a high-gain stage, routed by a three-way toggle1 |
| Lucydreamer and Tubedreamer footswitches | Engage each overdrive circuit1 |
The middle HIGH GAIN footswitch is assignable: a three-way toggle routes it to the Tubedreamer, the Lucydreamer or both, and separate internal trimmers set the high-gain output level for each circuit.1
Signal flow and using a loop switcher
Out of the box, the Double Dreamer runs input, then Lucydreamer, then Tubedreamer, then output, so the Lucydreamer feeds the Tubedreamer.1
For players with a loop switcher, Independent Y mode converts the IN and OUT jacks into breakout points for the two circuits, allowing switcher control, separate signal-chain placement or parallel stereo use. Two TRS-to-dual-TS insert cables are required.1
Artwork versions
Every custom artwork pedal is a one-of-a-kind hand-painted piece, and JAM notes the pedal received will differ in detail from the photos shown. The same circuit is available in different artwork editions.1
JAM lists shipping as DDP, with 20% UK VAT and all duties included and no extra charges on delivery.1 A manual for the Double Dreamer is linked from the product page.1
