The MOOER Cab X2 is a stereo digital cabinet simulation and impulse response pedal from MOOER maker MOOER Audio, part of the company's X2 series of compact dual-footswitch pedals1. It sits at the end of your signal chain in place of a real speaker cabinet: it takes your preamp or effects output and shapes it with factory cabinet simulation models or third-party impulse response files, so you can feed a PA, an audio interface or a power amp without a cab1.
MOOER introduced the Cab X2 in March 2022 as one of two new amp modeling products added to the X2 line, the other being the Preamp Model X X2 dual-channel digital preamp2. It followed the series' earlier entries, the D7 X2 Delay, R7 X2 Reverb and Groove Loop looper3.
What the Cab X2 does
A cabinet simulator replaces the frequency shaping a guitar speaker and microphone add to a signal. The Cab X2 does this digitally, with built-in factory simulation models plus support for third-party impulse response files, the standard format used by most modern IR libraries1. That means you can load the same IRs you might use on a computer or in another IR loader, alongside the stock cabs.
The pedal runs in mono or stereo setups, and you can bypass the cab sim for each channel independently1. That per-channel bypass is useful in a stereo rig where you might want simulation on one side only, or when you want to compare a simulated and dry signal.
The Cab X2 belongs to a crowded field of pedal-format cab sims and IR loaders, including the MOOER Radar, Two Notes Torpedo C.A.B. M, NUX Solid Studio, Walrus Audio Mako Series MKII ACS1 and BOSS IR-200. See the speaker simulation pedals overview for the wider range.
Presets and footswitches
The Cab X2 includes 14 user preset slots, and each slot can store two different cabinet simulation settings1. That gives you 14 banks you can flip between on a gig, each holding a pair of cab sounds you can compare or alternate.
The footswitch can be assigned either as a traditional on/off switch or to switch between presets1. That choice mirrors the rest of the X2 series: the Preamp Model X X2 uses its dual footswitches for preset scrolling or A/B channel switching2, and the Tender Octaver X2's two footswitches handle effect toggling and preset browsing both independently and simultaneously256.
| Feature | Cab X2 detail |
|---|---|
| Preset slots | 14 user presets1 |
| Settings per preset | Two different cabinet simulation settings each1 |
| Footswitch modes | Traditional on/off, or preset switching1 |
| Cab sim bypass | Per channel1 |
Power: 9V, 300mA
The Cab X2 runs on 9V DC with a center negative plug and draws 300mA1. That current draw is the same spec MOOER lists across the X2 series, including the R7 X2 Reverb, D7 X2 Delay, Harmony X2, Tender Octaver X2 and Drummer X2789.
At 300mA, the Cab X2 draws more current than most analog compact pedals, so it is not a candidate for a typical daisy chain shared with low-draw analog stomps. A dedicated 9V output on a isolated power supply is the practical choice.

Questions
Does the MOOER Cab X2 load third-party impulse responses?
Yes. MOOER lists support for third-party impulse response files alongside its built-in factory simulation models, so you are not limited to the stock cabs. The pedal is part of the X2 series, whose amp modeling products were announced alongside the Preamp Model X X2 in March 2022.
Is the Mooer Cab X2 stereo?
Yes. The Cab X2 has stereo input and output, with two 1/4 inch mono input jacks and two 1/4 inch mono output jacks, plus a 1/8 inch stereo audio output. You can choose between mono or stereo setups, and the cab sim can be bypassed per channel.
Is the Mooer Cab X2 analog or digital?
It is digital. MOOER describes the Cab X2 as its latest digital cabinet simulation and impulse response pedal, using factory simulation models and third-party IR files rather than an analog speaker emulation circuit.
How much current does the Cab X2 draw?
The Cab X2 draws 300mA, which is on the high side for a compact pedal. It runs on 9V DC with a center negative plug, the same power spec as other pedals in the X2 series such as the R7 X2 Reverb and D7 X2 Delay.
How many presets does the Cab X2 store?
It has 14 user preset slots, and each slot can store two different cabinet simulation settings. The footswitch can be assigned either as a traditional on/off switch or to switch between presets.
