The MOOER Prime M1, also reported as the Prime Minimax M1, is a compact multi-effects unit designed for both guitar and bass players. MOOER calls it an "Intelligent Multi-Effects" unit, and it packs 149 effects across 10 banks, including amp and cab simulations, overdrives, modulation, delay, reverb and EQ, plus user slots1. At 190g and 12cm long, it is small enough that Gearnews described it as "your portable guitar rig that will fit in your pocket"21.

Guitar World framed it as a practice and songwriting tool rather than a board centerpiece: "the Prime M1 facilitates on-the-go guitar practice and performance, for an all-in-one suite for songwriting"3. It sits in MOOER's Prime line alongside the larger Mooer Prime Stomp S1 and the MOOER Prime M2.

Footswitches and looper

The M1 uses two multi-function footswitches to handle preset navigation, looping, tap tempo and tuner access1. Guitar World describes the division of labor: "Each footswitch handles multiple tasks, from browsing preset slots to triggering loop recordings and controlling its modulation effects with tap tempo functionality"3. Gearnews adds that the same two switches, plus two buttons, also cover drum machine functions2.

The looper offers the core looping functions a player needs for practice and building ideas1:

  • Record
  • Overdub
  • Pause
  • Delete
  • Playback1

Everything is shown on an LED digital display, with indicators for Bluetooth, charging and battery life1.

Two buttonsAdditional control over presets, loops, tuner, tap tempo and drum machine functions2

Battery, USB-C and outputs

The M1 runs on an internal 2000mAh lithium battery charged over USB-C, with up to 5 hours of battery life and a 2.5 hour charging time1. Guitar World reported the same figures: "It takes a modern USB-C input and offers five hours of playtime on a two-and-a-half-hour charge"3.

Because the M1 runs on its internal 2000mAh lithium battery charged over USB-C rather than a pedalboard power supply, it does not need a spot on a power supply, but it is not a conventional daisy-chain pedal either. Plan on charging it like a phone.

The connections cover practice and pocket-rig use: a standard 1/4" guitar input, an output jack, and a headphone output13. Gearnews also lists a TRS stereo jack output2, which gives a stereo path for headphones or a mixer when a full rig is not available.

Guitar and bass support

Bass players get dedicated treatment. MOOER says the M1 includes 20 curated bass amp and cab models1, and Gearnews reported that "20 amp and cabinet simulations are specifically tailored for bass guitarists, making it an ideal choice" for bass players2. A bass player therefore gets models voiced for their instrument rather than having to work around guitar-only simulations.

Where it came from

The M1 follows the Mooer Prime Stomp S1, which MOOER launched in March 2024 as an Intelligent Multi-Effects unit with four multi-function footswitches, a USB C-powered lithium battery and 10 metronomes5. As Gearnews put it, "Building upon the success of its predecessor, the Prime Stomp S1, the M1 offers a more compact and versatile solution"2.

The main practical difference for a player is the control surface: the S1 has four multi-function footswitches5, while the M1 pairs two multi-function footswitches with two buttons2. Guitar World reported the M1 available at $105 in December 20243.

Questions

How long does the MOOER Prime M1 battery last?

The built-in 2000mAh lithium battery gives up to 5 hours of playtime on a full charge, and a full charge takes about 2.5 hours. MOOER lists the battery life and charging time on the product page, and Guitar World reported the same figures.

How do you charge the MOOER Prime M1?

The unit charges through a USB-C port from its internal 2000mAh lithium battery. Plug a USB-C cable into the charge input and allow about two and a half hours for a full charge.

Does the Prime M1 have a headphone output?

Yes. Alongside its quarter-inch input and output jacks, the M1 has a dedicated headphone output, which makes it usable for silent practice. Gearnews also lists a TRS stereo jack output on the unit.

Does the Prime M1 work with bass?

Yes. MOOER designed the M1 for both guitar and bass players, and it includes 20 curated bass amp and cab models, so a bass player gets dedicated amplification simulations rather than guitar-only models.

How is the Prime M1 related to the Prime Stomp S1?

The M1 follows the Prime Stomp S1, building on that pedal's success in a more compact format. The S1 has four multi-function footswitches, while the M1 uses two multi-function footswitches plus two buttons.
