The Mooer Prime Minimax M2 Intelligent Pedal is a compact multi-effects pedal for guitar that packs 194 onboard effects, including drives, preamps, cabinet models, delays, reverbs and modulation effects, into a unit small enough to fit a touchscreen on its front panel12. Mooer calls it an AI Intelligent Multi-Effects, and the company describes the workflow as "quick and seamless"13. It sits in Mooer's Prime line alongside the Prime P1, Prime P2, Prime S1 and the Prime Minimax M1 released in 20242.

What makes the M2 unusual is that it runs on an internal battery and is controlled largely through a touchscreen and a Bluetooth 5.0 phone app rather than a row of knobs4. It was announced in March 2025 and was available at launch, with pricing yet to be confirmed at the time3.

What it does: 194 effects in a touchscreen pedal

The M2 carries 194 effects models, a count that includes cabinet emulations, covering overdrive, preamp simulators, cabinet models, delays, reverbs and modulation effects23. Those models can be arranged into the 80 included preset slots, and tones can also be sourced from the Mooer Cloud, where users share presets online, including third-party tones35. The 80 preset slots also store downloaded MNRS and third-party sample files2.

The front panel is built around a 1.28-inch touchscreen, which Premier Guitar notes makes browsing the device's banks of presets straightforward24. Guitar World's news editor called the touchscreen decision "a nice touch" on a pedal this small5. The panel also carries a power button and two multi-function footswitches, both of which can be used to switch between presets in each bank24. Quick-access virtual buttons cover the Looper, Bluetooth, Drums, wireless footswitch, Volume and Tuner functions, plus a power meter4.

"Within this small multi-effects device, a whole lot of functionality is packed in."

On the pedal alone, you can switch between the 80 presets; deeper editing happens through the Bluetooth app6.

Power and connections

The M2 runs on a 3000mAh integrated lithium battery rated for up to 6 hours of use, charged via USB-C with a DC 5V/2A supply16. A full charge takes around three hours3. Even with the battery onboard, the pedal weighs only 228g23.

The Prime Minimax M2 carries an onboard battery and shows its charge level on an LED charge indicator, rather than running from a conventional pedal power supply24.

Connectivity is broad for a pedal this size6:

  • Mono 1/4" guitar input
  • Two 1/4" outputs for stereo operation, suited to stereo delay and modulation effects2
  • 3.5mm headphone output for silent practice63
  • 3.5mm MIDI port6
  • USB-C, which can also be used to run the pedal as a recording interface6
  • Bluetooth 5.0 for app control4

The headphone output makes silent practice possible anywhere, and the USB-C recording interface function means the M2 can double as a simple desktop recording setup without extra hardware36.

MIDI and footswitch control

The 3.5mm MIDI jack lets you connect a MIDI controller to extend the M2's control functions, and presets can be accessed by connecting the Prime M2 via MIDI23. It is also compatible with the Mooer F4 wireless footswitch, which gives you hands-free preset switching without running a MIDI cable1.

How it compares to the Prime M1 and the rest of the line

The M2 follows the Prime P1, P2, S1 and the Prime Minimax M1, which Mooer released in 20242. The M1 is also a small multi-effects pedal, but it carries a 2000mAh battery rated around five hours, against the M2's 3000mAh and up to six hours, and it charges via USB-C as well71. The M1's connections are a standard guitar jack input, a TRS stereo jack output and a headphone out, without the M2's touchscreen, MIDI port or Bluetooth app control7. The Prime P2 offers external MIDI controller support and up to 5 hours of battery life from its integrated rechargeable battery8.
