The Mr. Black Eterna Gold Modified is a shimmer reverb pedal, which Mr. Black calls "the second coming of Shimmer Reverb." It is built on the foundation of the company's Eterna circuit, with a modified reverb algorithm that offers expanded decay: a tail of over 60 seconds. Production was discontinued on June 25, 2026, so the pedal is no longer being made.1
What it does
The Gold Modified takes the Eterna's shimmer reverb approach and modifies it. The headline change is the decay: Mr. Black states the modified algorithm delivers a tail of over 60 seconds, which places it among the long-tail reverbs players use for ambient and shoegaze playing.1
The Shimmer control is the pedal's central feature. As Christopher Scapelliti explained in Delicious Audio's buying guide to ambient and shoegaze reverbs, "The Shimmer control adjusts how much of the octave signals are fed into the reverb." In practice, that means the pedal can run from a conventional reverb sound, with little or no octave content, up to a full shimmer where the octave-up signals dominate the tail.2
Where it sits in the Eterna family
The Gold Modified is one of several versions of the Eterna circuit. The related Mr. Black Eterna Custom is a limited "Stained-Glass" edition featuring the classic circuit with a custom graphic, which Mr. Black describes as "a remarkable, lush and fully capable reverberator."3 The Gold Modified differs from that classic circuit by way of its modified algorithm and expanded decay.3
Production of the Eterna Gold Modified was discontinued on June 25, 2026. The pedal is no longer available new from the maker.1

Questions
Is the Mr. Black Eterna Gold Modified still in production?
No. Mr. Black marked the Eterna Gold Modified as production discontinued on June 25, 2026, according to the maker's own product page. The pedal was built on the foundation of the Eterna circuit, and the related Eterna Custom, a limited Stained-Glass edition with the classic circuit, has also appeared in the maker's range. Players looking for the sound would need to find the Gold Modified secondhand or consider the other reverb pedals in the Mr. Black line.
What does the Shimmer control do on the Eterna Gold Modified?
According to Delicious Audio's buying guide, the Shimmer control adjusts how much of the octave signals are fed into the reverb. That lets a player dial the shimmer effect back toward a more conventional reverb or push it forward for the full octave-up shimmer sound. The pedal's modified reverb algorithm also offers an expanded decay with a tail of over 60 seconds.
