The Oscillator Devices SIREN8X is a 4-channel MIDI-controlled stereo mixer in pedal form, developed and built by Oscillator Devices in Germany. Its four stereo channels are fully analog, and every parameter can be controlled over MIDI, with 32 onboard presets for storing and recalling complete setups instantly1.
What sets it apart from a plain volume or mixer-style volume pedal is modulation: every channel includes two independent LFOs for volume modulation, giving eight fully configurable LFOs in total, one pair per stereo channel21. That makes it a tool for tremolo-like movement, rhythmic gating, and tempo-synced swells across a stereo rig, all under MIDI pedal control.
The controls
Each channel has a knob and a button, and the layout follows the signal flow. The volume controls sit directly after the input buffer, and after the master volume stage the signals are routed to the output buffer2.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Channel knob | Controls Tip and Ring together, or independently, or can be switched off entirely via the channel button2 |
| Channel button | Switches the knob between Tip and Ring, toggles mono summing, and flips the phase2 |
| Master volume | A dedicated control that adjusts the overall output level2 |
| Master button (hold) | Enters preset saving mode; a sent PC message is then stored and recalls the settings2 |
Each channel provides independent level control from -100 dB, which is effectively mute, up to +10 dB of gain, so a channel can boost as well as cut1. Each channel also offers independent phase inversion and mono summing2.
Preset saving is deliberately simple: set up the SIREN8X how you like it, hold the master button to enter preset saving mode, then send a program change message. That setup is stored and can be recalled instantly1.
The hardware is built for pedalboard use: high quality, low noise buffers at the inputs and outputs, and high-quality Neutrik connectors throughout2. The input impedance of 1MΩ suits instrument-level sources directly and is also fine for line level signals2. Internal voltage boost circuits give the analog stages a headroom of +14.8 dBu or 12Vpp2.
LFOs for volume modulation
The modulation engine is the SIREN8X's defining feature. Every channel includes two independent LFOs for volume modulation, described by the maker as 4×2 independent LFOs with 4 waveforms: eight fully configurable LFOs, one pair per stereo channel21.
- Waveforms: sine, square, and forward or reverse ramp1
- Period range: 100 ms to 1.2 s free running, or synchronized to MIDI clock for tempo-based modulation1
- Phase: a phase parameter defines the relationship between the LFOs and allows them to be shifted precisely relative to one another2
The phase parameter is what makes the pairs more than simple tremolos: with two LFOs per channel that can be offset against each other, a player can build stereo movement where left and right channels pulse in and out of alignment, all locked to MIDI clock if the tempo should follow the music21.
A firmware update added an LFO Time Multiplier to the SIREN8X, extending the tempo options for clock-synced modulation4.
LFO settings are not retained when the SIREN8X is powered off. However, they can be stored in any of the 32 user presets, so anything you want to keep should be saved to a preset2.
Mono and parallel FX use
The SIREN8X is not limited to stereo rigs. Because mono and stereo signal paths can be used simultaneously, it also operates as a mono mixer with up to eight channels1. With mono signals you can have up to 8 parallel FX paths; the only thing you need is a signal splitter before the SIREN8X2.
That makes it a hub for wet/dry and multi-amp setups: split your signal, feed each FX path into its own channel, and use the per-channel level, phase inversion, and LFOs to balance and animate the blend21.

Oscillator Devices also makes the Siren, a MIDI-controlled volume pedal. The SIREN8X carries the same idea of MIDI-controlled volume into a four-channel mixer format with eight fully configurable LFOs, one pair per stereo channel21.
Availability
The SIREN8X carries a list price of 259,00 € (incl. 0% VAT)13. Documentation includes a user manual and quick start guide at version 1.02.
Questions
Is the SIREN8X signal path analog?
Yes. Oscillator Devices describes the SIREN8X as having a fully analog signal path with four fully analog stereo channels. The MIDI control and the LFOs manage the volume circuits, but the audio itself stays analog from input to output.
How many presets does the SIREN8X store?
The SIREN8X holds 32 user presets. Set the pedal how you like it, hold the master button to enter preset saving mode, then send a program change message to store and recall that complete setup instantly.
Can the SIREN8X sync its LFOs to MIDI clock?
Yes. The LFOs can run freely with periods from 100 ms to 1.2 s, or they can be synchronized to MIDI clock for tempo-based modulation. A firmware update also added an LFO Time Multiplier for further tempo control.
Can I use the SIREN8X in mono?
Yes. Mono and stereo signal paths can be used simultaneously, so it works as a mono mixer with up to eight channels. With mono signals you can run up to 8 parallel FX paths, provided you use a signal splitter before the SIREN8X.
Does the SIREN8X remember LFO settings after power off?
No. LFO settings are not retained when the SIREN8X is powered off. However, they can be stored in any of the 32 user presets, so saving your LFO setups to a preset keeps them available for instant recall.
