The Poly Digit is a multi-effect pedal from Poly Effects, an Australian maker Delicious Audio describes as having "been making a splash with its unique touchscreen-based" pedals. Its core territory is time-based effects: delay, reverb and freeze, which can be chained in series or parallel, with additional effects available on the wet paths. It is controlled mainly from a 5-inch touch screen, backed by three configurable footswitches and two knobs for on-the-fly adjustment1. A related model, the Poly Effects Digit Quad Delay Reverb, was reviewed by Pedal of the Day in June 20202.

Effects and signal routing

The Digit's headline feature is the ability to run several time-based effects at once and choose how they connect. Delicious Audio's product page puts it plainly: "you can chain your delay, reverb, freeze effects, and more, in series, or parallel"1. For a player, that means a single pedal can hold, say, a delay feeding a reverb, or run the two side by side, without a chain of separate units.

Beyond the main algorithms, each wet path carries its own set of built-in processing:

  • EQ
  • Compressor
  • Saturation
  • Reverse
  • Tape and tube emulation
  • More effects on the wet paths1

Pedal of the Day's review of the Digit Quad Delay Reverb also notes built-in cabinet IRs, letting the unit double as a direct-recording tool2. Preset storage is generous: Delicious Audio describes a "ludicrous number of presets slots"1.

Controls, connectivity and power

The 5-inch touch screen is the main interface, with three configurable footswitches and two knobs for parameters that need "old-style" on-the-fly adjustment, in Delicious Audio's words1. Timing features include tap tempo with multi-master sync1.

MIDIInput and output on TRS, 2 x 5-pin DIN adapters supplied1
Power9V, 500mA1

The 500mA draw at 9V1 is well beyond what most daisy-chain supplies share comfortably, so plan for a dedicated high-current output on your power supply.

The four outputs and stereo inputs noted by Pedal of the Day2 suit stereo rigs and wet/dry setups.

Status and where it went

Delicious Audio reported the Poly Digit as "now shipping" on 11 June 20201. On 21 January 2021, Poly Effects announced on its firmware page that "Digit is merged into Beebo," folding the Digit's functionality into the company's Beebo platform as of firmware 3.03. Players looking at the Digit today should therefore expect to find its features carried on in the newer unit.

Questions

What effects does the Poly Digit have?

The Poly Digit is a multi-effect pedal whose main algorithms are delay, reverb and freeze, which Delicious Audio says you can chain in series or parallel. It also carries built-in effects on the wet paths, including EQ, compressor, saturation, reverse, and tape and tube emulation, plus built-in cabinet IRs according to Pedal of the Day.

Does the Poly Digit have MIDI?

Yes. The Digit has both MIDI input and output on TRS jacks, and Poly Effects supplies two 5-pin DIN adapters in the box so the pedal can connect to standard MIDI cables and gear.

How much current does the Poly Digit draw?

Delicious Audio lists the power requirement as 9V at 500mA. That is a relatively high draw for a pedal, so it needs its own capable power supply rather than a shared daisy chain.

Can the Poly Digit run effects in series and parallel?

Yes. Delicious Audio's coverage of the Digit states that you can chain delay, reverb, freeze effects and more in series or in parallel, so several time-based effects can be arranged in either routing on the same pedal.

Does the Poly Digit have tap tempo?

Yes. The Digit includes tap tempo with multi-master sync, according to Delicious Audio, letting you set time-based effect speeds from the pedal and keep them locked together.
