The Two notes ReVolt is a family of all-analog, three-channel preamp pedals, made in guitar and bass versions. Two notes describes them as "forward-thinking all-analog 3-channel preamps" that are "fuelled by 200V and genuine tube power", with each channel inspired by what the maker calls "a trio of iconic tones"1. They sit among the preamp pedals in the company's range, alongside the Two Notes Le Lead Dual Channel Tube Preamp and the Two Notes Opus.

What it does
The ReVolt Guitar is, in Two notes' words, a "3 channel all-analog guitar amp simulator"7. GuitarPlayer's Dave Hunter quotes the maker calling it a "three-channel all-analog guitar amp simulator with an analog cab sim, FX loop and MIDI"6. The three channels give a player three distinct amp voicings in one pedal, switchable by foot, in place of carrying several drive pedals to cover the same ground.
The ReVolt Bass follows the same formula for bass players, and its third channel carries a MODERN DRIVE mode. Two notes describes it as "Based on an original Two notes design, it's super-tight with an abundance of gain for a thick 'gained-to-the-max' tone", with a switchable Dry/Wet Blend on that channel2.
The ReVolt Bass also ships with a lifetime license of Two notes' GENOME software, which includes a set of DynIR virtual cabinets2.
Cabinet simulation and outputs
Both pedals carry an onboard analog cabinet simulation. On the ReVolt Guitar, MusicRadar's Rob Laing notes the cab sim is "based on a signature Marshall Slash 4x12"4. A cab-sim mini-switch on the front panel enables the internal simulation, which Premier Guitar's reviewer found can be routed via the balanced XLR output and the headphone output5. That balanced XLR line output is what lets the pedal go straight to a PA or interface without a microphone on a cabinet5.
Connectivity
The pedals are built to work in several rigs. gearnews.com's Jef reported at launch: "The pedals have some nice connectivity options including an effects loop and MIDI. They also allow for direct, four-cable mode and Hybrid connectivity"3. In practice that means the ReVolt can replace an amp entirely, sit in front of one, or plug into an amp's effects loop while still using its preamp channels:
- Direct: straight to a PA, interface or headphones through the cab sim5
- Four-cable mode: in front of an amp while using its loop3
- Hybrid: combining the pedal's preamp with a real amp3
Firmware and DynIR updates
Two notes has continued to support the series after release. The company notes that "There is an offline update procedure for DynIRs when using ReVolt in conjunction with Wall of Sound", its software for managing virtual cabinets, delivered through a firmware update for the series7.
The ReVolt is an all-analog 3-channel preamp rather than a digital unit: Two notes describes the series as "forward-thinking all-analog 3-channel preamps" that are "fuelled by 200V and genuine tube power"71.
What reviewers said
Reviewers of the ReVolt Guitar consistently picked out how directly it works. Premier Guitar's reviewer wrote: "The ReVolt is intuitive, too."5, describing an approach with no menu diving or hidden secondary knob functions.
"The ReVolt is intuitive, too."
Guitar.com's Richard Purvis placed the pedal in the maker's wider line, writing that "French brand Two Notes aims to combine the tonal flexibility of those first two pedals"8, referring to the company's earlier preamp and cab-sim units.
