The Amptweaker TightFuzz Distortion Effect Pedal is sure to incorporate some vintage flavor to your arsenal. Unlike most vintage fuzz boxes with limited controls, the TightFuzz features a Tone control that tames fuzzy edges and Tight control that varies the pick attack from thick and smooth to aggressive and tight. That is especially helpful for tweaking your fuzz tone as some tend to be very flubby on the low end. While most modern fuzz boxes decided to make excessive fuzz tone, Amptweaker chose to create something with several flexible yet usable tones.
Carl Martin’s 2019 Purple Moon features the Uni-Vibe Level, Speed, and Depth controls of the old version. It retains the silicon Fuzz chip with Level and Fuzz controls which let you add mind-bending Fuzz to the sweeping Uni-Vibe. It remains the sole analog, true bypass Fuzz/Vibe pedal in the market. The new Purple Moon still brings you back to players like Anastasio, Gilmour, Trower, or Hendrix, but it is more compact. It is housed within a two-toned, anodized diecast case with top mounted jacks.
Taking the best characteristics of both fuzz and overdrive pedals and mixing them together into one crunchy blend, the CP-32 Clear Veil Overdrive/Fuzz pedal lets you serve up warm and smooth overdrive tones at lower levels and gets dirtier and fuzzier as you crank it up further. No worries about getting too muddy, though; the Tone knob does a great job giving you full control over a wide range of sound characteristics at both the min and max settings of the Fuzz knob.
The Black Cat OD-1 or “Freddie Fuzz” is an original design crafted based on the innovative properties of Analog Devices’ dual operational amplifier chip, OP275. It can go from clean to moderately crunchy to full-on saturated distortion. The Black Cat OD-1 responds to your pick attack and cleans up well when you roll back the guitar volume, just like a great Fuzz Face. It has been used by the likes of Lyle Workman, Beck, Steve Lukather, Scott Henderson, Kyle Cook (Matchbox Twenty), and several others.
The Black Cat OD-Fuzz is a smart, dual channel fuzz/distortion box combining the OD-1 with an adjusted Fuzz Face style circuit. Both channels have their set of controls with individual LEDs for every side. While each channel produces a distinct sound, blending them will enable a tremendously broad range of tonal possibilities, from slightly overdriven to all-out fuzz. The new OD-Fuzz is a deluxe edition that features ORDER, GERMANIUM/SILICON, and BIAS controls.
