MXR Smart Gate Pro Foot Controller

The MXR Smart Gate Pro Foot Controller is the companion pedal to the M235 Smart Gate Pro Rack Module, the rack-mounted version of MXR's Smart Gate noise reduction line. Its job is simple: it sits on the floor and gives a player remote switching of the rack unit, so the gate can be engaged and bypassed from in front of an amp or pedalboard rather than at the rack¹.

What it does

The foot controller is not a noise gate itself. It is a switching pedal built to work with the MXR Smart Gate Pro rack unit, which Dunlop describes as "the big brother to the Smart Gate pedal"². The rack unit carries the gate circuitry, including per-channel trigger level controls, gate LEDs that show the level of noise reduction for each channel, a Sync control that links channels A and B, a selectable ground lift, and remote switching capabilities, which is the function this foot controller provides³².

In practice, a player using the Smart Gate Pro rack unit to quiet a high-gain rig can place the foot controller where their other pedals live and switch the gate in and out as the song demands, the same way they would stomp a noise gate pedal on the floor¹.

Power

Dunlop lists three ways to power the pedal¹:

• a 9-volt battery
• a Dunlop ECB003 9-volt adapter
• a Dunlop DC Brick, Iso-Brick, or Mini Iso-Brick power supply (not included)
