The Valeton VLP-200 is a dual looper pedal with a built-in drum machine from Valeton. Instead of one loop track, it gives you two fully independent loopers, LOOP 1 and LOOP 2, each with its own footswitch, so you can layer two parts at once or switch between them like song sections. A drum machine with selectable rhythm patterns and BPM is built in, and each saved project remembers the loops plus the drum pattern and tempo you used1.
It records at 24-bit, 48 kHz and stores loops as stereo WAV files, with room for 99 projects and about 7 hours of audio in total12. At launch it was priced at $1292.
What it does and how you control it
The VLP-200's two footswitches independently control the recording and playback of LOOP 1 and LOOP 2. Each footswitch has a four-color LED halo (red, green, blue, yellow) that shows what that loop is doing: recording, playback, overdubbing, standby, delete, or undo/redo1.
Recording can run in two modes. Pressing and holding the MEMORY/SAVE knob switches between Manual Recording (MR) and Automatic Recording (AR)1. Overdubs have a useful length rule: the overdub track length can be set as an integer multiple of its own base track length. If your overdub time is not an integer multiple when you press the footswitch to end recording, the footswitch light turns blue and flashes slowly, and recording ends automatically at the next integer multiple1.
Serial and Free loop modes
The two loops can work together in two ways, which is what separates the VLP-200 from a single-track looper1.
| Mode | How the loops behave | What it suits |
|---|---|---|
| SERIAL | LOOP 1 and LOOP 2 play in sequence, one at a time, when both hold recordings | Transitions between song sections, verse/chorus changes12 |
| FREE | LOOP 1 and LOOP 2 play simultaneously, with recording durations that do not affect each other | More complex layering, two independent parts at once12 |
In FREE mode the two loops operate as two fully functional independent loopers, so a short loop can cycle under a long one without either constraining the other1. In SERIAL mode, Valeton describes controlling the two loops to play in sequence for seamless section changes1.
Storage: 99 projects, about 7 hours
The pedal holds up to 99 project storage spaces. Each project stores all recordings in LOOP 1 and LOOP 2, the selected drum rhythm pattern, and the BPM of the drum machine, so a whole arrangement comes back exactly as you left it. Each project can store a single loop of up to 4-minute stereo WAV files at 24-bit, 48 kHz, and total recording storage is about 7 hours1. Delicious Audio reported the same 7-hour capacity at 24-bit/48 kHz2.
Connections, power and build
The VLP-200 is a stereo pedal: two-channel inputs and two-channel outputs support both mono and stereo devices. INPUT-L has two modes for connecting a microphone or an instrument, so a vocal or a second source can go in alongside your guitar. MIDI IN and OUT synchronize external devices with the pedal, and a USB 2.0 Type-C port handles audio1.
The power supply is not included. The pedal needs DC 9V at 500mA, center negative, so make sure your adapter meets the full 500mA draw1.

What reviewers said
Delicious Audio covered the VLP-200 at its launch in September 2024, when it was priced at $1292. The reviewer's verdict on its core job:
"It does the layering just as well as any more expensive looper out there"
The same review called it a great option for songwriting, practice and live performance, and highlighted its value for money and layering quality2.

Questions
Is the Valeton VLP-200 stereo?
Yes. It has two-channel inputs and two-channel outputs on 1/4 inch TS jacks, and Valeton says it supports both mono and stereo devices. Loops are stored as stereo WAV files at 24-bit, 48 kHz, and there is also a 3.5mm TRS headphone output.
Does the VLP-200 come with a power supply?
No. The pedal runs on DC 9V, 500mA, center negative, but Valeton lists the power supply as not included, so you need to supply your own 9V adapter that meets the 500mA requirement.
Can you plug a microphone into the Valeton VLP-200?
Yes. The INPUT-L jack has two modes for connecting either a microphone or an instrument, so a mic can go straight into the pedal alongside an instrument on the other channel.
Does the VLP-200 have MIDI sync?
Yes. It has MIDI IN and OUT connectors, and Valeton says the MIDI interface synchronizes external devices with the VLP-200, so it can lock to compatible gear rather than only running on its own clock.
Can you transfer loops from the VLP-200 to a computer?
The pedal has a USB 2.0 Type-C port and records loops as WAV files at 24-bit, 48 kHz in stereo, so recordings exist in a standard computer-readable format. Valeton's product page does not describe a dedicated computer editor or file-transfer application for the unit.
