The One Control Crocodile Tail Loop OC10 is a programmable loop switcher: a floor unit that sits between your guitar and your pedalboard and puts each of your effects into its own switchable loop, so pedals that are not in use are taken completely out of the signal path instead of loading down your tone. One Control calls it the company's flagship switcher, and MusicRadar's reviewer described it as the company's top-of-the-line unit12.
It offers ten loops in total: seven series loops that pass signal one after another, plus three separate loops that can be used for amp channel switching or for connecting effects into an amp's effects loop1. Up to 70 presets can be created and saved with a push button auto saving system, so a single footswitch press can bring up a whole combination of pedals1. As of late October 2026 the unit shows as sold out on One Control's product page1.
What the Crocodile Tail Loop does
The core job of the OC10 is loop switching: each pedal on your board connects to a pair of send and return jacks, and the OC10's switching decides whether that pedal is in your signal chain or fully bypassed. All of the loops are true bypass, though there is buffering in the system that can be patched in at the start of the chain2. The unit includes One Control's BJF Buffer, which can also be bypassed entirely by using the nonbuffered input1.
The buffer is flexible in where it sits. Its input and output can be placed in any loop: for example, to have the buffer in loop 8, you run from send 8 into the buffer input, then from the buffer output into return 81.
Loop connectivity is also flexible. MusicRadar's reviewer noted that seven loops connect serially internally, while three need to be patched in, which is what makes those three loops usable for purposes beyond simple pedal switching2. The three separate loops can handle amp channel switching or feed an amp's effects loop1.
The jacks are mono, but the OC10 can still work with stereo effects. One Control says it can be used with one stereo effect in combination with eight mono pedals; a stereo pedal takes two of the separate loops1.
Footswitches, preset buttons and modes
The OC10 can be used two ways. In preset mode, two upper footswitches scroll through the banks while the lower seven footswitches call up the programs in the selected bank2. There are 7 programs per bank, and you can choose up to 10 loops for each program1.
Setting up the presets is straightforward: 10 low-profile buttons, one for each loop, are toggled on and off to make a loop active in a preset2. Presets are stored with the push button auto saving system1.
The unit can also work as a simple switcher in Direct mode, where each footswitch accesses the pedals in its related loop. One Control describes Direct mode as perfect for band practices or for experimenting with pedals before you have decided how to set your programs12.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Two upper footswitches | Scroll through the banks2 |
| Seven lower footswitches | Call up programs in the selected bank, or access loops directly in Direct mode2 |
| 10 low-profile buttons | Toggle each loop on and off when editing a preset2 |
| Loops 8 to 10 NO/NC labels | Match Normally Open or Normally Closed amp footswitch inputs1 |
MIDI, linking and the CrocEye
There are two ways to control the OC10 remotely. The first is using two Crocodile Tail Loops, controlling one with the other over One Control's proprietary link cable. The second is the MIDI input, used with your preferred MIDI controller; the OC10 responds to standard program changes1.
The link function lets players connect two Crocodile Tail Loops together to access multiple pedals off stage1. The cable uses LAN connectors, but it is proprietary: One Control states that a commercially available LAN CAT5e cable cannot substitute for it, and the dedicated LINK cable comes in 1m and 10m lengths3.
On the MIDI side, the OC10 can send program changes or act as a MIDI through in combination with other MIDI devices1. It has TX and RX functions, transmit and receive, so a guitarist can choose whether to send or receive MIDI program changes on internal programs1. One limitation to know: without the CrocEye MIDI expansion accessory, the Crocodile Tail Loop can only send PC# (Patch Change) messages1.
Power and connections
The OC10 runs on a 9V DC supply with a 450mA current draw1. That draw is well beyond what a battery or a small daisy chain can provide, so it needs a proper power supply output.
At 450mA, the OC10 needs a dedicated 9V DC output from a pedalboard power supply. Plan for it when sizing your power unit1.
Input impedance is 500K ohm and output impedance is 10K ohm maximum1. Listed accessories include the 1m and 10m LAN cables and the CrocEye MIDI expansion13.
The Wing OC10W version
One Control also makes the Crocodile Tail Loop Wing OC10W, which the maker describes as the most advanced loop switcher available today4. Its loop layout differs from the OC10: loops 1 to 7 are in series, with signal going into loop 1 first and finally reaching loop 7, while loops 8, 9 and 10 are parallel loops isolated from the major loops 1 to 7, internally connected in series unless a cable is inserted into the IN or OUT jack4. Three parallel effects loops follow the seven serial loops, giving up to ten programmable switchable loops4.
The Wing's controls mirror the OC10's approach. Program buttons handle preset editing: recall a preset, unlock BUTTON LK, then turn loops 1 to 10 on or off by pressing the corresponding buttons. The footswitches recall presets, or turn loops 1 to 7 on and off when Direct mode is on4. Where the OC10 holds 70 presets, the Wing offers 168 MIDI presets, callable via footswitch or MIDI program change messages41. Like the OC10, the Wing shows as sold out on One Control's product page as of October 20264.
What reviewers said
MusicRadar's review, from Guitarist magazine, found much to like. On the practical side, the reviewer wrote that "the operational simplicity of the One Control units is a massive plus point in their favour"2, and concluded that "The OC10 obviously offers a lot"2.
The price was the sticking point. The reviewer found it expensive and advised comparison shopping2:
"but at the asking price we'd be inclined to wait careful comparison with the Boss ES-8 would be wise"2
MusicRadar's Guitarist review2
For UK context, the same reviewer noted the smaller One Control Chamaeleo Tail Loop V2, a simplified option compared to the OC10, comes in £200 cheaper than its big brother at £249, implying a UK price around £449 for the OC105.

Questions
Is the One Control Crocodile Tail Loop true bypass?
Yes. MusicRadar's review confirms all of the loops are true bypass, but there is buffering in the system that can be patched in at the start of the chain. The OC10 includes One Control's BJF Buffer, which can also be bypassed entirely by using the nonbuffered input.
Can I use stereo pedals in the Crocodile Tail Loop?
The jacks are mono, but One Control says it can be used with one stereo effect in combination with eight mono pedals. Using a stereo pedal takes up two of the separate loops, since each side of the stereo signal needs its own send and return path.
Can the OC10 switch amp channels?
Yes. Three of the ten loops are separate loops that can be used for amp channel switching or for connecting effects into an amp's effects loop. Loops 8 to 10 are labeled NO and NC, for Normally Open or Normally Closed, so you can match your amp's footswitch type by checking its manual.
Can I use a normal LAN cable to link two OC10s?
No. The link function uses a proprietary cable with LAN connectors, and One Control states that a commercially available LAN CAT5e cable cannot substitute for it. The dedicated LINK cable comes in 1m and 10m lengths.
How many presets does the Crocodile Tail Loop hold?
Up to 70 presets, saved with a push button auto saving system. There are 7 programs per bank, and you can choose up to 10 loops for each program. The Wing OC10W version goes further with 168 MIDI presets.
Is the One Control OC10 still available?
As of late October 2026 the OC10 shows as sold out on One Control's product page, as do the Wing OC10W version and the LINK cable. It carried a regular price of $849.99 USD.
