ThorpyFX Launches the Heavy Water

ThorpyFX introduced the Heavy Water, a dual high headroom boost pedal, answering what the maker reported as many requests to put the boost side of its The Dane clean boost into a pedal of its own. The result is a two-channel booster made in the UK, with one side carrying a clean boost circuit derived from The Dane and the other using germanium diodes for a grittier boost¹²³.

The pedal carries four controls: two boost-level knobs and two Lows knobs, the latter used to thicken each boost effect. The germanium diode boost side is accompanied by its own Lows control, and the left-hand germanium boost has its own bypass footswitch⁴⁵.

Guitar World's Trevor Curwen reviewed the pedal and found it unusually flexible for its type², writing:

He also noted that set at minimum, the clean boost brings in a small but definite boost that enhances the sound without undue alteration of its tonal character².

The Heavy Water launched at £189 and was available on the ThorpyFX Store at launch⁵².
