ThorpyFX Launches the Heavy Water Leave a comment

UK pedal maker ThorpyFX has introduced a new stompbox called the Heavy Water, which houses both clean and dirty boosts.

ThorpyFX has devised the Heavy Water Dual High Headroom boost pedal in response to several requests from guitarists for a pedal that takes the ThorpyFX Dane boost/overdrive’s boost and loads it into a standalone pedal.

Besides the Dane boost found on the right side of the pedal, the Heavy Water also boasts a dirtier germanium diode-enhanced boost on the other side. Each side can be utilized individually or in tandem to, as Thorpy said, “absolutely smash the front end of a valve amp into submission.”

The boost function of the Dane worked exceptionally with either humbucker or single-coil pickups, and this hotter boost-cum-drive seems like it would act similarly.

The Heavy Water features a simple control layout consists of four rotary knobs: two for “lows” and two for boost level. That’s a lot of excitement for P90s or Strat pickups, and what is more interesting is how the pedal will interact with the user’s amps and pickups.

The unit’s compact enclosure measures only 65mm (W) x 125mm (L) x 53mm (H), leaving a tiny footprint on the pedalboard. The Heavy Water is powered by 9V power supply and is available now for £189.99.
