Seymour Duncan Releases the Diamondhead Leave a comment

Leading pedal creator Seymour Duncan has announced the launch of its new Diamondhead Multistage Distortion + Boost stompbox. This new addition to its expanding guitar effects lineup is expected to “have any classic metal or hard rock player ready to shred.”

The Diamondhead captures the feel and tone of a hot-rodded tube amp being pushed by a boost or drive stompbox—the guitar sound that defined 1970-80s metal and hard rock. Think Ozzy Osbourne, RATT, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, and Iron Maiden—all those classic sounds lurk inside the Diamondhead.

This multistage distortion + boost pedal boasts plenty of gain on tap, plus a switchable 805 Overdrive circuit, three-band EQ, and a separate 15dB boost. From a thick growl to a metallic scream, the stompbox delivers the goods.

Users can utilize the Diamondhead in various ways. It works well in front of a clean amp, adding a cranked amp stack sound. Users may also punish an overdriven amp’s front end, soaking the tone in beautiful layers of saturation.

Per the press release, the pedal will shine as a pre-amp as well. “By running it into the effects return of your tube amp or in front of our  PowerStage  power amps, you’ll be rewarded with a hot-rodded high gain amp tone with body, bite, and character,” it reads.

The Diamondhead Multistage Distortion + Boost pedal is offered for $229.
