EarthQuaker Devices Upgrades the Afterneath to V3 Leave a comment

EarthQuaker Devices has announced the third incarnation of its well-loved Afterneath reverb stompbox, the Afterneath V3.

Similar to its predecessors, the Afterneath V3 is tooled up to produce a tremendous range of ambient tones. Also, while it follows the same reverb algorithm as the earlier versions, it now includes a whole host of innovative features.

“The Afterneath sounds a lot like it looks—a wizard bursting forth from ethereal cave and ready for the ambient battle. You are the wizard—or sorceress, if you prefer—and the cave is your instrument’s signal, vast, expansive, and magical,” EarthQuaker Devices wrote.

The new Afterneath variant boasts a fully digital reverb/delay path, a pure analog dry signal path, tails or no tails switching, and EarthQuaker Devices’ buffered bypass with Flexi Switch Technology.

Touted as a stompbox for crafting “cavernous reverbs, or scattered, short, rhythmic delays,” the Afterneath V3 comes with nine new reverb modes. These include Octave, Octave/Quinten, Unquantized, Unquantized Volt/Octave, Unquantized with Slew, Pentatonic scale, Chromatic scale, Minor Scale, and Major Scale.

Sporting sleek new graphics, the Afterneath V3 consists of controls for Length, Diffuse, Dampen, Reflect, Drag, Mix, and Mode.

The Afterneath V3 retails for $199 and is already available to pre-order for release on April 15.
